His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Aljadaan, concluded his participation at the 10th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), held June 24-26, 2025, in Beijing, China.
During his participation in the Governors' Business Roundtable, Minister Aljadaan emphasized the importance of AIIB expanding its efforts and cooperation with other Multilateral Development Banks to mobilize private capital. He noted that private sector participation in cross-border connectivity projects does not exceed 22%, which reflects the limitations of partnerships between the public and private sectors, despite infrastructure development being a fundamental pillar of global economic growth.
To overcome these challenges, Minister Aljadaan affirmed that AIIB has an opportunity to adopt innovative solutions, such as dynamic risk allocation, blended finance mechanisms, and the establishment of payment corridors supported by blockchain technology.
Minister Aljadaan stressed the importance of AIIB strengthening its support for low-income countries, noting that the special funds provided by the Bank are impactful resources that can help bridge financing gaps and contribute to ensuring that all members are included in the development process without exception.
In addition, Minister Aljadaan stressed the necessity of expanding investments in emerging energy technologies. “The Bank has already demonstrated its understanding of the energy sector's importance, but we must go further. Technologies such as Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) are critical for energy security," he said.
The Annual Meetings serve as a platform for AIIB to showcase its achievements and engage a diverse group of stakeholders—including members, partners, business leaders, civil society organizations, and distinguished global experts—in important discussions on infrastructure financing for a sustainable future.
This year's meeting also marked the launch of a series of events celebrating AIIB's 10th anniversary, highlighting its major contributions to sustainable economic development and enhanced infrastructure connectivity across Asia and beyond.
