12/18/2025

World Arabic Language Day, celebrated this year under the theme "Innovative Paths for the Arabic Language: Policies and Practices for a More Inclusive Linguistic Future," a distinguished initiative highlights the promotion of the Arabic language and its connection to scientific and economic fields through the launch of the Financial and Economic Dictionary.

The dictionary is the result of a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Finance, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Capital Market Authority, the Government Spending and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO), the General Authority for State Real Estate, the National Debt Management Center, the National Center for Government Resource Systems, the National Center for Privatization & PPP, and the Financial Sector Development Program.

The dictionary aims to unify financial and economic concepts and terminology, providing precise definitions in both Arabic and English. It seeks to enhance financial awareness, support specialized academic and media content, and facilitate communication among government entities, the financial sector, and the academic community. The dictionary includes over 2,000 terms, with accurate Arabic definitions paired with their English equivalents, covering key concepts in financial and monetary policies, investment, economic planning, financing methods, and market instruments. It is designed as an educational and informative tool to support researchers, students, and decision-makers, contributing to improved performance and facilitating professional and academic communication within financial and economic institutions, making it a significant addition to the Kingdom's financial sector.

The launch of the dictionary aligns with this year's World Arabic Language Day theme, "Innovative Paths for the Arabic Language: Policies and Practices for a More Inclusive Linguistic Future," reflecting a practical effort to promote linguistic inclusivity in the financial and economic sectors. It positions Arabic as a knowledge-based tool supporting research and decision-making in the financial sector.
