The Saudi Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), organized a workshop entitled “Estimating Fiscal Multipliers". The workshop was held at the Ministry's headquarters in Riyadh September 6-10, 2026, and was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Investment, and the Public Investment Fund.

The workshop participants discussed the concept of fiscal multipliers and their role in measuring the impact of fiscal policies on GDP, by estimating the impact of changes in government spending or revenues or fiscal control measures on economic activity.

Participants also addressed the importance of estimating fiscal multipliers in enhancing the effectiveness of fiscal policy, improving the consistency of economic forecasts, and supporting the calibration of the volume of financial measures in terms of their composition, timing, and sequencing.​
